During the quarter the company shipped 3 GW of turbines and signed contracts and slot reservations for another 20 GW. More than half of new orders are for heavy-duty HA-class machines. About 80% of orders come from traditional utility customers, with the remaining 20% from data center operators.
By year-end, GE Vernova expects its combined backlog of orders and reserved slots to reach 125 GW. The main demand drivers remain AI data center construction, growing electricity consumption and grid modernization programs.
Like Siemens Energy and Mitsubishi Power, GE Vernova is taking equipment reservations four to five years out: leading OEMs have virtually no free production slots left for the coming years.
