Borescope inspection of gas turbines

Borescope inspection of gas turbines

Inspection of the gas turbine flow path without disassembly: through the standard borescope ports we assess the condition of the combustion chamber, compressor and hot gas path. The unit is out of service for hours, not weeks.

What the inspection covers
1Video endoscopy

Inspection of the hot gas path, compressor and combustion chamber, with every defect found put on record.

2Condition assessment

Erosion, corrosion, cracks and the state of blade protective coatings, component by component.

3Photo report and findings

Defects tied to specific components, with a verdict: keep operating, re-inspect, or repair.

4Spare parts recommendations

A parts list and a restoration work plan if any findings are raised.

How the work goes
Request and scheduling

We confirm the unit model, operating hours and access to the ports, then agree the shutdown date.

Mobilisation

An engineer arrives on site with a full set of endoscopic equipment.

Inspection

Examination of the flow path through the borescope ports, recorded on video.

Report

Findings with a photo report and recommendations, delivered on the agreed date.

When a borescope inspection is needed
  • before buying a unit or after a major overhaul, as an independent assessment of its actual condition;
  • when parameters drift: rising vibration, higher exhaust gas temperature, falling output;
  • on the operating-hours schedule, as routine inspections recommended by the manufacturer;
  • as an objective quality check on work carried out by an outside contractor.

Why SeverEnergoProject

We maintain a fleet of Solar Turbines gas turbine units at working oil and gas facilities, including offshore projects. Inspections are carried out by internationally trained engineers, and the work is done without bringing in foreign specialists.

Frequently asked questions
How long does an inspection take?

Inspecting a single unit usually takes from a few hours to one working day, depending on the number of ports and the amount of recording required. There is no need to shut the unit down for weeks.

Do you work with turbines from other manufacturers?

Yes. Our core specialisation is Solar Turbines (Saturn, Centaur, Taurus, Mars, Titan), but we also inspect other industrial gas turbines. Tell us the model when you send your request.

What do we receive at the end?

Findings with a photo report for every component inspected, an assessment of the defects and recommendations: continue operating, a date for re-inspection, or a list of repair work and spare parts.
